   Learning to Paddle

Safety certified canoe guides

(trained through the American

Canoe Association) are available

to teach your group the basics of canoeing.

Creek on a Canoe Evansville

school program.

Canoe Evansville provides transportation, canoes, paddles, life vests, and safety certified canoe guides for all of our trips.

  Pigeon Creek

While paddling Pigeon Creek, it's

easy to forget that you are in the heart of a bustling city! First time paddlers are often amazed by the diversity of wildlife that can be

found in this urban waterway.

Canoe Evansville trips offer

paddlers a different perspective

of the automobile and train bridges that cross Pigeon Creek throughout Evansville, Indiana.

Every trip down the creek offers a whole new adventure. From an abundance of wildlife to the constant changes in water level, you never know what to expect.

A view of Pigeon Creek and the Greenway Passage at Heidelbach Ave. Many of Canoe Evansville's trips depart from the ramp located near the bottom left of this photograph. As the currents change or log jams occur, alternate routes are chosen.

Pigeon Creek is a vital wildlife corridor that an abundance of

species rely on for safe foraging/migration. Without the shelter of tree cover and plant life,

as well as clean water, some

species may no longer exist in

our area.

  Hovey Lake

Moonlight Paddles on Hovey Lake offer picturesque views by the dozens!

A trip to Hovey Lake (an oxbow lake once part of the Ohio River) offers paddlers a serene experience as they weave through the stands of bald cypress trees.

Canoe Evansville's Moonlight

Paddles offer an alternative perspective of our area

waterways. As the moon rises,

the water becomes more

placid and a diversity of

nocturnal wildlife emerges.

  Pigeon Creek Clean Up

Canoe Evansville staff and

volunteers are active in clearing

trash and other debris from Pigeon Creek and other area waterways

for wildlife habitat restoration and

so area residents may safely enjoy these areas.
