Meet Our Raptors!
Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve is the home of nine birds of prey: two barred owls, a red tailed hawk, an American kestral, a great horned owl, a barn owl, a turkey vulture, an eastern screech owl and a red shouldered hawk.

Click on their files below to learn more about these magnificent birds and scan QR codes with your smart phone to hear them! Also, be sure to visit the brand new Alcoa Raptor Wing at Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve.

Through the

Raptor Ambassador Program (RAP),
a raptor conservation

and education project, WNS staff and docent volunteers learn to handle raptors and lead education programs.

Each bird needs daily

care and food.

To support our RAP,

you can Sponsor a Mouse Meal or

Adopt a Raptor.
