Periodically Howell Wetlands offers a variety of weekend and evening programs open to the public. Below is a list of the public programs offered at the Wetlands. Check our events calendar (click here) for a schedule of days and times these public programs are offered.

Wetland Wildflower Walk
Experience the sights and smells of wildflowers at Howell Wetlands on this guided tour. See a magnificent array of wildflowers, prairie grasses, and wildlife in the wetland, woodland and prairie…a quality show you can’t find anywhere else in the Evansville area. Ever seen a downy sunflower? A cardinal flower? Indian grass? Now is your chance. Join us! Hikes last about an hour and are led by Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Kate Lynch. Free; donations accepted. |

It's A Bug's Life
Experience the sights and sensations of butterflies that call Howell Wetlands home. Where do butterflies go for the winter? How long do they live? What is the difference between a monarch and a viceroy? To find answers to these and other questions, join us! Butterfly Bedazzled Hikes last about an hour and are led by Debbie Goedde, Southwestern Indiana Master Gardner, Southwest Indiana Master Naturalist and butterfly enthusiast. Free; donations accepted. |

Wing Watching
Bird enthusiast and Wild Birds Unlimited co-owner Tim Griffith will guide you through the woods and wetlands to discover active bird life. Bring your binoculars, cameras, and journals. It’s going to be a fun flight! Free; donations accepted. Note: Some trips are led by other local birding experts from the Evansville Audubon Society. |
